Vinexmarkt
In deze onderzoeks- en ontwerpopgave wordt gewerkt aan een alternatief voor het winkelcentrum Terwijde. Omdat de wensen en behoeftes van de bewoners van Leidsche Rijn in de loop van jaren veel zijn veranderd willen we de publieke gebieden in de wijk opnieuw bekijken. Met een markt proberen we een betere publieke leefomgeving en een sterkere identiteit te geven aan de Vinexwijk. Zonder voorbeeld is de vraag hoe deze eruit zou moeten zien en moet er dus op locatie veel getest worden. Het burenmarkt initiatief is een deel daarvan.
Anders dan het huidige manier van projectontwikkelen, willen we dicht bij de (eind)gebruikers blijven. Het idee is om dit proces toegankelijk te maken voor reacties van de bewoners en dan daarop in te spelen. Gedachten, interventies in het publieke domein, onderzoek, tekeningen, ontwerpoplossingen worden op deze blog getoond aan de bewoners van Leidsche Rijn en alle reacties, ideeën en kritieken zijn welkom.

Leidsche Rijn is a Vinex-location in the Netherlands still under construction with only one function: to dwell. Actual inhabitants live in a “gap” between former green fields and future housing projects, with many lots still standing empty and almost no places to gather. These gaps provide new possibilities for gathering and interacting.
The Vinexmarkt is a permanent “gap” an image of a potential future where public spaces are flexible and self-generated. In a sense, with this idea, we want to celebrate the end of suburbia with a public square, an iconic, monumental and yet flexible market square. Its simulated concrete
skeleton of an unfinished Vinex-terraced house will memorialize the largest development in the Netherlands while finally giving inhabitants a real place to gather. The strucutre would give the possibility to the Burenmarkt and other initiatieves would to spontaniously happen. We plan to build a wooden mold from a portion of the future Vinexmarkt. A carpentry school for the unemployed in Leidsche Rijn could realize the first two models.
